I just began the process of transferring the site’s “free” domain name included with the shared hosting package I’m using for this site to an independent ICANN accredited domain name registrar.  Therefore, it is possible the site’s DNS may break and the site become inaccessible from anytime tomorrow to three days from now.

I wanted to transfer this site’s domain name not because I’m planning on discontinuing the use of my current hosting company in the near future, but to ensure that if sometime in the distant future I do wish to do so, I will still retain full access and full ownership of this domain name.  Unfortunately I learned first hand that once I terminate service with the site’s hosting company, control over the “free” domain name is revoked.
